Nasambu and Mbaluka, the Nairobi-based Acoustic AfroJazz duo, following their debut feature on the International Jazz Day Virtual Concert 2020, and the release of the Urithi EP mid-2020, the two have been diligently crafting a live album. Created during a time when live concerts were mostly cancelled around the world, their music finds a way to give the audience a feeling of being in the live concert but for listening only. Released on the same day as their live “in person” concert in Nairobi, Kenya on March 7, 2021, it gives fans around the world a chance to feel like they are getting a taste of that live experience with room for the imagination.
The 5 track live album, titled, Free to Breathe: Live in Nairobi, brings to life new songs composed on guitar and vocals by Nasambu and accompanied by multi-instrumentalist, Mbaluka on the bass and guitar, while featuring the magnetic touch on the keys by special guest musician, Dave Kinyanjui, causing the music to dance and pulsate with life and spontaneity. The album includes live acoustic versions of two original classics, The Mystic Nomads and World Keeps Turning, and songs in the languages of English, Nepali and Swahili.
The music is inspiring and relaxing at the same time, sure to please fans of all ages and uplift all in the seasons of global changes that we are in the midst of.
